Trying This Out

I take most of my pictures with my phone these days. It is convenient at the time but when I want to share the memories with the blogosphere I never get around to it. I decided to try out blogpress and see if I liked it as an alternative when I want to blog on the go. So...here is my first post.

This is a moment I don't want to forget. Yesterday while driving we were listening to the World Mandate 2010 CD and Jacob was "singing" along. Then I heard him saying "Pa Jee!" with his hands raised. I realized he was meaning "Praise Jesus" which is something I have said to him over the last two years when he is in church with us or when we are listening to worship music at the house. It brought tears to my eyes to see him do this on his own multiple times throughout the car ride. I love his sweet heart.

Aubrey's CA Shower

Gig, Christie, and Elizabeth hosted a beautiful book shower for Aubrey Joy while we were in CA. It was so great to see a few of our California friends and celebrate the upcoming arrival of my baby girl. As always they thought of every detail. I had never been to a book shower, but it was really fun and Aubrey's library is now quite full. I guess I should get her some bookshelves.

I loved every detail, the beautiful flower arrangements, the bird's nest candle holders that every guest took home, the sweet gift table with pictures of Allan and I as babies and the reason we chose Aubrey's name, and the delicious food and cake. I'm telling you these original Kavalich women know how to throw a party.

Claire picked out her beautiful big sister baby shower dress which she loved spinning in. She and I even headed to the nail salon to get our toes done for the big day. It was also special having Allan and Jacob stop by the shower for awhile. Such a sweet time with family and friends.

Lego Land

This year we are not taking a "Big Kavalich Family Vacation" we opted for a staycation in Southern California. My in-laws have a great house for hosting us all and Allan and I LOVED being there. It is safe to say the others would have rather taken a trip to Hawaii ;) but we all made the most of it.

The day after the Fourth of July festivities we headed to San Diego for the day to play at Lego Land. It was really fun and much warmer than we had anticipated. Lego Land is so perfect for young kids! Claire and Jacob were both able to ride quite a few rides and they loved it. Claire rode her first real roller coaster and she had a blast. She actually talked the group into riding it twice in a row. If Jacob could talk I think he would say the helicopters were his favorite ride.

Allan and I were once again amazed at what the artists were able to create with Legos. The miniature cities are awesome and Allan really loved the Star Wars replicas (sadly those pictures we have of all that stuff is on our phones and I haven't downloaded them yet). It was a great day with the entire Kavalich family. We were thankful for the opportunity to go to this super fun place once again!

4th of July

We just got back from spending a week in CA with Allan's family. It was such a great trip. We have gone out there the last few years for the 4th, but have never had a chance to stay so long. The next few posts will be covering our trip.

One of our traditions when in CA is to spend the evening of the 4th at Allan's parent's country club. There are always fun games for the kids, Claire even participated in the hula hoop competition this year which was pretty cute. They have face painting and balloon artists, a yummy dinner, and a lot of room for the kids to run and play. The top picture of the kids running down the fairway is one of my favorites. We all had such a great time.

We love spending time with Allan's family and especially watching all the little cousins play together and get to know each other better and better. They seem to be developing fun friendships and we all love making memories that will last forever.

After all the festivities the club puts on a good a great fireworks show. This year we were a little too close to say the least. You will notice in a few of the pictures the kids were terrified and I even had to wear my sunglasses because we were getting covered in ash. It was a hilarious memory and we will absolutely be sitting further back next year. The girls loved all their glow sticks that their Mima brought.

Such a great beginning to our Kavalich vacation!
